Starting a new job or internship is usually a mixture of exciting and terrifying all at the same time! Now that you have landed the role you have worked so hard to get, self-doubt can creep in where you question your capabilities and anxiety around how you will fit in.
Through this program, you have learned all the steps you need to take to ensure that you put your best foot forward in your job or internship search and you may ask, now what?! Over the years in my own career, I have learned there are a few key things you can do to ensure you are hitting the right marks early on.
Don’t give your boss any reason to believe you are not 100% committed to the role
Take an interest in your co-workers
Remember the lesson about org charts? Being genuinely interested and curious about what other people do in their roles within the company or organization can really help you in your career. It can help you when you need to rely on that’s person expertise. It can also give you a sense of how the company functions overall and knowing this will impact how your do your own job. Early in your career, you might also start to see you want a different path and knowing about other roles can help you see that you have options. Get an understanding of their role and how your roles might intersect. Being aware of this can really help you in the long run.
